Maria José Rivera, is a Bolivian dancer and choreographer. Her research is related to identity in contemporary dance and her artistic work has been marked by reflecting in different philosophical and political themes; as the impact of the word on the body and the significance of democracy nowadays
Between 2015 and 2017 she and her family took part of the Choreomundus Program, an invaluable experience which opened up her mind and the possibilities of her art for further development.
Before, she studied ballet, contemporary dance, theatre and related disciplines. She got her bachelor degree in Choreography in Mexico on 2005. She worked for the Ministry of Culture in Bolivia from 2009 to 2015. She represented Bolivia performing in Argentina, Austria, Cuba, Ecuador, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Mexico, USA and The Netherlands.
