Estefanía Solórzano was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 1981. She is a dancer and actress with 10 years of professional experience and is currently in the second year of the International Joint Master in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage (Choreomundus) hosted by a consortium of four European Universities. She also has a degree in International Business Management from Universidad Católica de Guayaquil. She has studied Theatre at Laboratorio Malayerba for three years and Contemporary dance at Centro Cultural Sarao and La Fábrica, Cuerpo-Espacio for eight years. Estefania has participated in several workshops by choreographers such as Marcela Quintero (Germany) who is an invited dancer at Pina Bausch’s company, Lisie Estarás (Argentina/Belgium) from Les Ballets C de la B, David Zambrano (Venezuela) and Jennifer Ocampo (Germany). As a dancer, she worked with Nathalie Elghoul (Ecuador/Belgium), Omar Aguirre (Ecuador) and Jordan Klitzke (USA) of Gringa Danza. She also has performed professionally in more than twenty theatre festivals around Latin America, such as Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Cuba. She developed a project in Ecuador for underprivileged groups with a focus on people with special needs through theatre and movement workshops with the support of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of Ecuador. She just finished her fieldwork in Greece where she is researching the influences of traditional Greek dances in dance technique and choreography of a contemporary dance company.
